IMBeR International Project Office

The Integrated Marine Biosphere Research (IMBeR) is a large global research project co-sponsored by the Scientific Committee for Oceanic Research (SCOR) and Future Earth.The IMBeR International Project Office (IPO) - China has been hosted by SKLEC of ECNU since 2020, being responsible for promoting IMBeR research with a focus on the Asia-Pacific Region, the Middle East, and Africa. The IPO-China and IPO-Canada share administrative responsibilities and collaborate closely in promoting IMBeR Science Plan and Implementation Strategy. 

The main tasks of the International Project Office are to:

       support and coordinate the activities of the  Climate Impacts on Oceanic Top Predators (CLIOTOP) Regional Programme and the Sustained Indian Ocean Biogeochemistry and Ecosystem Research (SIBER) Regional Programme;

       support and coordinate the activities of the Continental Margins Working Group (CMWG) and the Eastern Boundary Upwelling Systems Working Group (EBUS);

       promote IMBeR and support the implementation of the IMBeR SPIS (2016-2025) in the Asia-Pacific, the Middle East, and African region;

       undertake educational outreach activities of IMBeR-related science to empower the above-mentioned regional scientists with IMBeR relevant scientific research skills;

       administer and support IMBeR Endorsed Projects, National Contacts, and other affairs on demand.
